He does not communicate verbally- instead relying on hand gestures and pointing to let someone know if he wants something, and other people who know him well to anticipate his needs. Francis requires 1:1 supervision at all times, which at the moment is provided by his mother. Francis would appreciate a PA to provide 1:1 support to enable his mother to take a break and to support Francis to leave the house safely. Francis can engage in self-injurious behaviour (biting his wrists, slapping or hitting his head and face) when upset or frustrated, and he may hit out at others for the same reason, however these episodes are becoming less frequent as he is settling in with his family.
