LArche Ipswich

L’Arche Communities are vibrant places of welcome, belonging and celebration. We are committed to providing people with learning disabilities the opportunities and support they need to lead fulfilling and empowered lives.

L’Arche Communities hold in balance four elements: service, community, spirituality and outreach. Experience has shown us that each element has an important role to play and needs to be present – not only for a Community to be healthy, but in order to make us better at each of the other elements.

There are 11 L’Arche Communities in the UK. The first Community opened in 1974 in Kent and our newest Community opened in Manchester in 2013. Each Community celebrates people with learning disability and fosters circles of support around them, focusing on building relationships and creating a culture of belonging.

We believe that people with learning disability have much to teach us and contribute to the world. Over half a century, we have learned that one of the best ways to enable this is by creating Communities with a culture of shared lives between people with and without learning disabilities, from which we can work together to build a more human society.
