Alina Homecare - Disability Support require a full-time, permanent, Care Manager to work within our Poole office.

At Alina Homecare - Disability Support we provide supported living and domiciliary care services to adults with Learning Disabilities, complex needs and mental health and our goal is to promote independence. Our employees are as important as the people we care for.

Main Purpose of Role

  • To support the Registered Manager to maintain the registration standards as outlined by the Care Quality Commission
  • To ensure the day to day management and administration of the service in accordance with statutory regulations, company policies and procedures
  • To ensure all services are provided in a person-centred way using an outcome-based person centred approach
  • To contribute to the overall development of the service
  • To be involved in the recruitment of staff within the service. To follow the company recruitment policies and procedures

Key accountabilities

  • Ensure Deputy managers receive regular supervisions at least once every 8 weeks
  • Monitor quality of services by carrying out spot checks on services and staff at least four times a year
  • Ensure all Deputy managers have an annual appraisal, that identifies their strengths and training needs
  • Ensure all supervisions and appraisals are recorded on our Coldharbour system

Staffing

  • Have an oversight of staff rosters to ensure they meet the needs of the service users
  • Support the co-ordinator in arranging staff cover during sickness and annual leave
  • Arrange and facilitate regular team meetings to ensure all staff are kept up to date with any company or regulatory changes in the service
  • Liaise with our training department to ensure all staff receive mandatory training updates and assist with the development of further identified training needs
  • Authorise staff leave and expenses claims before passing to our finance department

Workload

  • The Care manager will be responsible for going out and completing assessments of new referrals and following through the processes to achieve a successful placement
  • The Care manager will liaise with the staff team regarding the provision for new referrals, ensuring assessments, risk assessment and funding contracts are in place before the commencement of services
  • The Care Manager will raise any incidents that have potential to be a safeguarding alert to the relevant Authorities and ensure all Alina documentation is completed within 24 hours of the alert being raised
  • The Care Manager will be responsible for ensuring all new client and staff information is entered onto the company’s Coldharbour system

Administrative Duties

  • Be responsible and have an oversite for the establishment and maintenance of the service record keeping systems, which will be available for inspection as necessary by authorised personnel
  • Ensure that all Clients care and support is reviewed at least annually including risk assessments, moving and handling plans and PCP’s
  • Be responsible for the production of data, statistics and reports related to the service activities as required by the Registered Manager
  • Be responsible for overseeing the management of the budget for the office

Clients

The Manager is required to:

  • Attend Case reviews
  • Monitor the quality of the service as directed by a quality monitoring programme and be involved in the development of the company’s policies and procedures, where required
  • Ensure service users receive a weekly rota to show who will be covering their care and support visits
  • Ensure any updates are recorded in the office and home file
  • Ensure the company’s Coldharbour system is updated with any changes

The Care Manager Will Be Required To

  • Liaise with, Social Workers, GP’s, CPN’s, District Nurses and other key people regarding any care packages and ensure that their awareness is raised in any change of circumstances with the initial assessments or care and support package
  • Report any concerns to the Registered Manager, in relation to health & safety at work.
  • Record all compliments and complaints received
  • Support the Area / Registered Manager to investigate any complaint received and respond to the complainant within seven working days
  • Ensure the Area Registered Manager is kept informed of service development

Training

  • Maintain personal professional development to meet the changing demands of the service by attending appropriate training activities
  • Represent Alina in working parties with regard to training matters
  • Ensure that all staff are trained to confidently and competently provide the care and support required by their clients
  • Ensure all relevant updates are carried out in line with CQC Care Standards
  • Implement new documentation, policies and procedures as directed by the Operations Manager and Directors

General

  • Take part in the out of hours on call service, as necessary
  • Contribute to own supervision and appraisal systems in line with organisational requirements
  • To undertake any training deemed as necessary to carry out the full requirements of the post
  • To carry out any other duties that may be required appropriate to the level and nature of the post
  • It is the responsibility of every member of staff when leaving a building to ensure that they have turned off their computer and printer and any other electrical equipment that they have been using. As the last person leaving a building they should also do a final check ensuring that windows and doors are secured etc

Person Specification

  • Minimum of NVQ 4 Health & Social Care, or willing to work towards this qualification
  • Experience of working in the care sector
  • Good understanding of CQC regulations and how to transfer these into working practise
  • Good understanding of person centred, outcomes based care and support provision
  • Flexible approach to working hours
  • Ability to prioritise and work under pressure
  • Good communication skills
