Job Description

Care Home Cook - Coombe End Court, Marlborough
40 hours per week
07:00-17:00  including every other weekend
Rate of Pay: £9.66 per hour

Are you an experienced catering assistant, commis chef or cook that takes pride in your work? Are you looking for your next challenge without split shifts and anti-social hours? We are currently recruiting for a Cook to join our passionate, hard-working and friendly catering team, to create delicious meals for our residents. Nutrition is an important element of the elderly care package that we provide. You will be actively involved in the nutritional needs of our residents, in consultation with the Chef, and ensure that a high-quality dining experience is received by everyone. You will get to know our residents and their families, so will be motivated to accommodate and respect their individual needs in line with both their care plans and personal preferences. Some weekend work will be required.

What experience do you need?
You will have previous experience working in a kitchen providing meals for large numbers. Alongside this you will have a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.

What will you get in return?
The Trust is a great place to work; we’ve been providing care for almost 1,000 years and we’re currently the second largest not-for-profit provider in the UK. Not-for-profit means that we reinvest every penny we make into our residents, colleagues and the care homes we live and work in. Therefore, we offer a great range of benefits, including a competitive salary, training and development. Alongside keeping our colleagues safe with PPE, daily testing and comfort in knowing all your colleagues will be fully vaccinated against COVID-19  (in line with government legislation; please do not continue with this application if you have not received all doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccination, clinically exempt or under 18 years of age).

Here’s an overview of some of the benefits you could get for working for us; * Company pension * Company sick pay (after probation) * Weekend rates * Life Assurance * 28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) pro rata * Free uniform * Free DBS * Free car parking * Employee Assistance Programme and Health and Wellbeing Platform * Comprehensive Induction, ongoing training and development * Refer a Friend bonus scheme paying £500 for carer recommendations * “My Rewards” offering you discount on shopping, days out, restaurants and much more

Our commitment to be sector-leading in all aspects of safety for our colleagues and residents has ensured that we always have full PPE supplies for all our services. Our early adoption of the vaccine means as a key worker you will have access to personally being vaccinated, alongside ‘instant’ tests, known as Lateral Flow Tests, for every day you work in one of our homes.

We are following the government’s guidelines around our colleagues working in only one care home to limit the spread of infection from one healthcare workplace to another. As a result of this, if you already have another job in another healthcare organisation and you wish to continue working there alongside the Trust, unfortunately we would not be able to progress with your application at this time. However, if you are happy to consider committing to working for us exclusively until the restrictions are lifted we are happy to discuss guaranteeing you the hours you will lose from not being able to work your second job. Or once the restrictions are lifted, please do not hesitate to re-apply for any of our roles that maybe of interest to you then.
