Company Description

Prior's Court was set up by Founding Patron Dame Stephanie Shirley, whose vision of a centre of excellence for children with autism became reality with the opening of Prior's Court School in 1999. We have since grown to support around 90 young people with autism aged between 5-25 years with the opening of Prior's Court Young Adult Provision in 2011.

Since opening, our support team has grown from around 20 to 500 and we have built a reputation as a leading edge educational, vocational, and residential facility for young people with autism. Job Description:

You will work directly with the young people to provide care and support in order to meet their needs and develop their independence and life skills. You will also support and guide staff on a day to day basis, whilst working with young people, in the implementation of the PBS plans for each young person. You will be the main link between the house team and a PBS Lead, coordinating behaviour support planning and monitoring and incident analysis.

Our Autism Practitioners are the key to the progress and achievements of young people at Prior’s Court and we aim to make them feel valued and supported. Our thorough training and induction programme will ensure you have the support, skills and tools you need to deliver quality care for each young person. We will even support you to complete your HABC Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (England) (RQF) if you are not yet qualified - a statutory requirement for a career in childcare. Many of our staff members become experts in supporting those with autism and have the opportunity to progress to more senior roles.

Who we are looking for:

The ideal candidate for the role will:

  • Have an outgoing and enthusiastic personality with a commitment to succeed
  • Have good verbal communication skills and an ability to influence others
  • Have experience of working with young people with autism
  • Have experience of dealing with challenging behaviour
  • Have experience/knowledge in implementing behaviour support strategies
  • Have a psychology degree or a PBS DipHE or higher

We offer a comprehensive, free training programme including hands on experience working alongside experienced and senior team members.

We operate a rota based on a rolling pattern of early and late shifts throughout 52 weeks of the year, including weekends and public holidays. Our early shift starts at 7.00am and finishes at 3.45pm and our late shift starts at 3.15pm and finishes 10.00pm covering weekdays and weekends over 52 weeks.
