Choice Support is a national charity, formed in 1984, supporting people with autism, learning disabilities and mental health needs.
In 2019 we doubled in size when we merged with MCCH. Both organisations were part of the movement in the late 1980s to support people out of institutions, to re-connect with families and build new lives in the places they once lived.
These were big, bold and brave steps back then and Choice Support stands firmly on these foundations. Our values haven’t changed over the years. We are still ambitious, continuing to take bold steps forward to promote the rights of people we support. We value people for who they are, and we expect everyone we support to be respected in society.
We employ around 2,800 staff to support about 1,500 people to live the life they choose. The name Choice Support accurately describes what we do. We provide support to individuals based on their own choice and don’t define people by their support needs or the name of a model of service.
We are regulated and inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), see our ratings. We also work with the CQC to employ Experts by Experience (ExE), to help inspect services across England.
Choice Support is governed by a Board of voluntary Trustees, meet them here.
We are led by a team of Directors, meet them here.
Often families who are considering where to turn for support need to talk to someone in their shoes before they make decisions. Meet Lynda, our voluntary Families Ambassador, here.
Meet our Diversity and Inclusion manager, Helen Choudhury, who shares her passion for equality and respect, here.
