About the Employer
I am the employer and mother to my young son. He has a diagnosis of Autism and has a Chromosome deletion disorder. As part of his symptoms and the behaviours associated he displays obsessive compulsive behaviours and as such requires someone with a good knowledge and understanding of the traits associated and likes things doing in a particular way. He struggles with loud noises but has access to ear defenders but is very sensory led and enjoys most activities such as water play, swimming, being outdoors, going to parks and soft plays, TV and using his tablet and using public transport He has a great sense of humour and is very tactile so enjoys lots of cuddles, physical contact and the attention of adults. When frustrated he is known to lash out at others and will require close supervision at all times due to his vulnerability. My son will require support with personal care and wears pull ups throughout the day and night. We are seeking a PA to offer 1 overnight per month within their own home. My son is known to get up through the night, so the person applying would need to be vigilant and aware of this when applying. The successful candidate would require to be OFSTED registered due to his age and all the PA's household members over 16 would be required to hold an enhanced DBS (these will be completed by the local authority free of charge) The PA would provide care and support for the overnight provision which would allow us to spend quality time with his sibling and a break from our caring role.

Penderels Trust was formed as a charitable trust in 1988 as a partnership between Coventry and District Spastics Society (now Scope) and Coventry City Council. The trust managed a 9-bed rehabilitation unit supporting primarily younger people with disabilities and adults with an acquired brain injury, helping them to develop their independent living skills. Coventry City Council supplied the staff and resources to fund the trust's activities.
In 1997, the trust split from the local authority to become fully independent. Five staff (some of whom remain with the trust today) left the local authority to continue their work with Penderels Trust. Penderels Trust became a registered company in 1988 (retaining the charitable status).
With the advent of direct payments, we began work with a number of local authorities across England and Wales under contract to provide advice, support and information services. This work continues to date and we work with over 40 local authorities as direct payment support service providers.
