Job Title: Children’s Home Assistant Manager
Location: Linton, Derby
Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum (Full-time)

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Children’s Home Assistant Manager to join our team in Linton, Derby. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is eager to step up to a Registered Manager position in the future. As an Assistant Manager, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the operational leadership of a children’s home, ensuring the safety, well-being, and development of the young people in our care. You will be working closely with the Registered Manager to ensure the home runs smoothly and is compliant with all relevant regulations and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the children’s home.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individual care plans tailored to the needs of the children and young people.
  • Manage, supervise, and motivate a team of care staff, ensuring they are well-trained, supported, and adhere to policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a safe and nurturing environment, ensuring that safeguarding procedures are followed.
  • Help with recruitment, induction, and training of new staff members.
  • Ensure that the children’s home meets regulatory standards (Ofsted, health and safety, safeguarding, etc.) and that required documentation is up to date.
  • Assist in the budget management of the home and support financial planning.
  • Build positive relationships with external agencies, families, and other professionals.
  • Promote the development of young people, encouraging independence and life skills.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a children’s residential setting, ideally with some supervisory experience.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and regulatory requirements for children's homes.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Children & Young People or equivalent qualification (Level 5 preferred, or willing to work towards).
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate staff.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people.
  • Eager to step up to a Registered Manager role with the right support and training.
