We are looking for a caring, dependable, and proactive person to join a new team supporting a gentleman living with a spinal cord injury in the Redruth area.

He enjoys gardening, spending time outdoors, watching cricket, socialising, and being with his family. He lives with his wife, young son, and their dog, so applicants should be comfortable around pets. Please also note, the client vapes and occasionally smokes.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a fresh, motivated, and dynamic care package. Experience with spinal cord injuries is an advantage, but not essential, as full training will be provided.

Location:

  • Redruth

Roles Available:

  • Part time 2 shifts per week working a mix of days and waking nights

Shift Pattern:

  • Day Shifts: 08:00-22:00
  • Waking Night Shifts: 20:00-09:30
  • Bank Holidays and weekend work will form part of the rota

Pay Rates:

  • £15.00 per hour weekday rate
  • £16.00 per hour waking night rate
  • £16.00 per hour weekend day rate
  • £17.00 per hour weekend waking night rate
  • Double time for Bank Holidays
  • Rates are paid £1.00 per hour less during probationary period

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality personal care and daily living support
  • Assist with mobility, transfers, and specialist equipment
  • Support social activities, rehabilitation, and community outings and holidays
  • Promote independence, dignity, and choice
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to provide consistent, person-centred care

Ideal Support Worker:

Essential:

  • Caring, respectful and patient
  • Team player with a positive and proactive approach
  • Previous care experience
  • Flexible and reliable
  • Comfortable around pets
  • A full, clean driving licence and willingness to drive the clients adapted vehicle

Preferred:

  • Previous experience of complex care and/or spinal cord injuries

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Purpose: To support your client with their day-to-day living, promoting their independence and supporting them to live a fulfilled life ensuring their safety and wellbeing at all times.

Internal and Management: This role will report to the Registered Manager

Key Duties/Responsibilities of our Support Worker:

Supporting your client to safely lead a fulfilling and more independent life by:

  • Provide practical support for your client and their family, such as helping with personal care, household tasks and paperwork
  • Assist and encourage your client to engage in everyday home, social, leisure and work activities, according to the individual's choice
  • Support and monitor your client's healthcare needs, including administering medication and other clinical tasks
  • Help your clients to access community facilities and be included in community groups, if they so wish
  • Understand their communication needs and adapt your own communication style accordingly
  • Keep accurate, up to date records of all the care you provide
  • Work positively with other professionals, such as doctors and therapists, to ensure consistency of support
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times
  • Participate in learning and development opportunities as required

As a term of employment, you may be required to undertake other duties and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required. This forms part of your employment contract.

Salary

£15.00 - £17.00 Per hour
